Jim Beall founded Ball Janik LLP's Government Affairs practice when he joined the firm in 1988, and he serves as the practice group Chair and Managing Partner of the Washington, DC office. Under his leadership, the Government Affairs practice has grown steadily in influence and geographic reach. Ball Janik is now considered one of the leading federal lobbying firms based in the Pacific Northwest. Dividing his time between the East and West Coasts, Mr. Beall provides federal regulatory and legislative representation to the firm's clients, with a heavy focus on issues relating to transportation, national defense, economic development, taxation, education and natural resources. He provides high-level strategic guidance to both private and public clients, connecting them to resources and solutions at the local, state and federal levels.

He has served as a natural resources attorney for the U.S. Department of the Interior, as Legislative Director for Representative Al Ullman, and on the professional staff of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Ways and Means. Mr. Beall has been in private practice since 1981.
