Robert Wilkinson is a Ball Janik LLP partner and a member of the firm’s Construction Defect, Litigation, and Insurance Recovery practice groups. His current practice focuses on design and construction defect litigation. He represents a wide range of clients in Oregon and Washington, including owners of single family residences, apartments, townhomes, condominiums, and commercial buildings. As plaintiff’s counsel in construction disputes, he has helped clients secure millions of dollars in settlements. Mr. Wilkinson has also provided general counsel representation to community associations in all aspects of their operations.
Mr. Wilkinson also defends developers, design professionals and contractors in construction defect cases and disputes that arise during the course of construction projects. He has successfully asserted claims for insurance recovery of construction disputes against insurance carriers, and has extensive experience in positioning these cases in a manner that triggers insurance recovery to pay for attorneys’ fees and losses.
Mr. Wilkinson also represents material suppliers, contractors, and owners in prosecuting and defending payment claims, including construction lien and surety bond claims.

After receiving his law degree, Mr. Wilkinson worked for two years as a judicial clerk to Federal Magistrate Judge Janice M. Stewart of the District of Oregon.
Mr. Wilkinson is a member of the American Bar Association, the Inns of Court and the Construction Section of the Oregon State Bar. In 2005, he received the Pro Bono Award of Merit from the Multnomah Bar Association for his work as a volunteer lawyer with Legal Aid Services of Oregon representing victims of domestic violence in contested restraining order hearings.
