We represented Hyundai Motor Company in an insurance coverage lawsuit alleging breach of contract and bad faith against Illinois National In a case involving unique valuation of new business issues, Ball Janik LLP is representing Imperium Renewables, Inc. as insurance coverage counsel. Imperium Renewables is the owner and operator of the nation’s largest BQ-9000® certified biodiesel refinery, Imperium Grays Harbor, in Hoquiam, Washington, which is capable of producing up to 100 million gallons per year. In December 2009, an explosion at that facility caused significant damage, resulting in large-scale insurance claims under property and business interruption insurance coverages. The combined claims total is between $6,000,000 and $8,000,000, much of which was contested by the insurers.

Ball Janik provided Imperium with legal advice and strategy recommendations for resolving the outstanding claims. With our assistance, Imperium was able to favorably resolve its claims without resorting to litigation.
