John W. Windle joined Ball Janik LLP’s Orlando office on September 27, 2017. John Windle is an associate in Ball Janik LLP’s Construction Defect and Litigation practices. Mr. Windle helps clients come through the tough process of obtaining funds to pay for buildings (including homes) riddled with construction defects. Mr. Windle has a Bachelor’s in Psychology which helps him listen to, understand, and resolve the issues in his clients’ cases. Mr. Windle is a member of the Florida Bar’s Trial Lawyer Section.
John Windle was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. John attended Flagler College, where he graduated in three years with honors, obtained a psychology degree, and met the high standards to become a member of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology.
After Flagler College, Mr. Windle attended the University of Florida Levin College of Law. While at the University of Florida, John was on the Executive Board of the Florida Moot Court Team, obtained a certificate of excellence for pro bono work, worked in the Family Law Clinic, made the Dean’s List in the fall of 2013 and 2015, and played rugby for the University.
Prior to joining Ball Janik, Mr. Windle defended insurance companies in a wide variety of actions while working for Metzger Law Group, P.A. in Tampa and for Wicker, Smith, O’Hara, McCoy & Ford, P.A. in Jacksonville. These positions allowed for Mr. Windle to handle matters such as construction defect, slip and fall, auto negligence, class action, breach of contract, declaratory action, medical malpractice, first party actions, and many more. Through these experiences, Mr. Windle learned how insurance companies operate in practice, which helps him secure optimal settlements and judgments for his clients.
Mr. Windle was inspired to become a lawyer by his grandfather, Wayne Windle, who set a fine example for John. Wayne is the current managing partner of Windle, Hood, Norton, Brittain & Jay, LLP in El Paso, Texas. At the age of 27, Wayne distinguished himself by becoming the youngest attorney at that time to make a winning argument in front of the United States Supreme Court. Wayne later went on to become the ABOTA Texas Trail Lawyer of the year for 2009 and became the only lawyer to win El Paso’s civility award two years in a row. After over 50 years of practice, Wayne continues to inspire John by teaching him the most important things he has learned in his storied career, including the best ways to advocate for his clients in unexpected situations.
