Health Care

The firm maintains an active practice in the area of health care law, including representation of health care systems, physicians, and physician groups.  The scope of our representations includes a variety of business and transactional matters, including continuous care retirement facilities, as well as specialized regulatory and contracting work.  One of our partners served in late 1997-early 1998 as interim general counsel to a large Portland-based hospital system.  Other partners have been lead counsel in sophisticated sales of assets and operating divisions.  A team of the firm’s lawyers successfully assisted the Sisters of the Holy Names during 1999 in financing and initiating development of an $89 million retirement community/complex in suburban Portland.  The complex incorporates licensed health care beds with independent and assisted living units. In the area of physician representation, several lawyers in the firm have been involved in structuring physician business and facilities arrangements and have handled numerous physician contracting matters.
