Short Term Licenses, Permits and Other Things You Need to Know

Learning Objectives:

  • Educate property managers and owners on special issues related to short-term license arrangements
  • Assist property managers and owners in dealing with licensee forms

  • Key provisions that should be in any short-term license

  • Distinction between a lease and a license
  • Troublesome provisions in licensee-proposed forms
  • Administration and management of license arrangements
  • Variety of possible approaches to contracting the license arrangement
  • Insurance and indemnity issues related to licensing
  • Key elements of a license
  • Protocol for dealing with tenants affected by licenses

Course Overview:

The instructors will, through the example of a commercial shoot in a building lobby, examine issues that should be addressed by property managers and owners in dealing with a space license proposal, how to recognize critical issues with standard licensee-proposed forms, and provide and go through a list of take-away points that should always be considered in issuing a short-term license.
