Overview
Jake Scott is an associate in Ball Janik LLP’s Construction Defect Practice Group, based in Fort Lauderdale. He represents clients in construction defect litigation and related disputes, with experience handling matters involving construction defects, contract disputes, and negligence claims. Mr. Scott supports cases through all phases of litigation, including investigation, discovery, depositions, court appearances, trial preparation, and settlement negotiations.
Before joining Ball Janik, Mr. Scott represented clients in construction litigation matters and drafted pleadings, motions, and briefs. He also defended contractors, subcontractors, and construction firms against construction defect, contractual, and negligence claims, working with expert witnesses, engineers, and consultants to develop and present technical evidence. His experience representing the development and building side of construction disputes provides additional perspective in evaluating claims and pursuing practical resolution strategies.
Mr. Scott is a proud eight-year U.S. Air Force veteran with a background in Space Systems and as an Aerospace Control Officer. He also held roles in the defense sector as a Satellite Engineer and Orbital Analyst, as well as a Community Sales Manager in the housing industry.
