Before joining the firm, Bonnelly worked at a leading nationwide personal injury law firm and became skilled at various legal procedures, including Chapter 558 notices, conducting hearings, inspections, depositions, mediations, and settlements. In law school, he served as a legal intern at a boutique law firm that focused on matters such as real property disputes and breach of contract claims.
