Kasey Lynne Joyce is an associate in Ball Janik LLP’s Construction Defect and Litigation practices. She works collaboratively with a team of attorneys representing corporations and professionals in various general and complex litigation matters, with a focus on representing owners in the prosecution of complex construction claims.  Kasey became intrigued by construction law when she interned with the Office of the General Counsel for the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority, which is responsible for all legal aspects of the construction projects at Tampa International Airport. She enjoyed the work and was immediately drawn to the pursuit of construction litigation.

Previously, Kasey completed a rotational externship with the Middle District of Florida, wherein she served the Honorable Charlene E. Honeywell, the Honorable Roberta A. Colton, and the Honorable Amanda A. Sansone. She also served as a legal extern at the Office of the General Counsel for UF Health Shands Hospital. During her law school tenure, she also served as a research assistant and trial practice teaching assistant at the University of Florida Levin College of Law. She is a member of the Florida Bar, the Federal Bar Association, and the  American Bar Association, where she is actively involved in the Forum on Construction Law, including Division 12: Owners & Project Finance, as well as the Young Lawyers Division, where she acts as a liaison between Divisions. She also serves as a Member at Large on the Forum’s Special Programming and Education Committee. Kasey is a published author and authored an article entitled “The Legal and Practical Framework for Psychiatric Diagnoses as Bases for Requests for Euthanasia and Physician Assisted Suicide in the Netherlands” in The Florida Journal of International Law. She is also co-authoring a chapter in the upcoming ABA Fundamentals on Construction Law, 3d. Ed., as it relates to Owners and Project Finance.

During her free time, Kasey enjoys reading, writing, and spending time with her dog.
