While March has come to a closethe impact and accomplishments of the women of Ball Janik LLP remain central to who we are. We are proud to spotlight the personal milestones and professional achievements of our people that continue to shape our team’s success. Their thoughtful advocacy, resilience, and unwavering commitment not only define their work, but also strengthen the service we provide to our clients, communities, and to one another.

One professional milestone I am especially proud of is securing my first summary judgment win. Construction defect litigation is often highly technical, and achieving summary judgment requires not only a strong grasp of the law but also the ability to clearly distill complex issues into a compelling argument for the court.

It was a meaningful moment to see that work come together in a decisive result for the client. That experience reinforced the value of precision, preparation, and confidence in advocating for my clients.  It also taught me that effective lawyering requires calculated risks. While strategic decision-making may feel uncertain in the moment, it is required to achieve the best outcome. It shaped how I approach my practice today by encouraging me to be both thoughtful and bold: to build a strong record and advocate decisively when those opportunities arise.

A professional achievement that never gets old and I always appreciate is the deep sigh of relief from a client when they know that you’ve “got them”, not that they are going to win, but that they truly have someone in their corner. Nothing beats it.

Abby Zielinski Construction Defect Attorney

Taking on my first deposition in January of this year, four months into practice, was a meaningful “first” for me because it marked a significant transition from learning the mechanics of litigation to applying them in practice.  I was fortunate to have the mentorship and support not only from the Tampa office but also from the team I trained with in Orlando.

That experience mattered to me because it showed that growth in this profession is built not only on preparation and hard work, but also on the guidance and support of a collaborative team. It taught me the importance of being organized, knowing the record, staying flexible in the moment, and trusting my preparation. It reminded me that even early in practice, with the right preparation and support, you can rise to the occasion and continue building the foundation for the lawyer you want to become.

Amanda Gonzalez, Construction Defect Attorney

The professional achievement I am most proud of in my legal career is not a single milestone or event, but the entire journey itself.

What stands out most is the deep trust and confidence my clients place in me. Knowing they rely on my judgment during high-stakes litigation is incredibly rewarding and humbling. It drives me to advocate fiercely on their behalf and deliver results that protect their interests.

None of this would have been possible without the outstanding mentors and leaders who have guided me throughout my journey. Their ongoing support, wisdom, commitment, and willingness to continue teaching me and helping me grow every day have been instrumental to my development. My mentors have helped shape me into a more skilled, thoughtful, and resilient litigator. Because of their guidance, I have made it a priority to return the favor by mentoring and supporting younger attorneys in their own journeys – paying forward the same investment that was made in me.

This combination of client trust, strong mentorship, and the opportunity to guide others has taught me the value of humility, perseverance, and lifelong learning. It reinforces why I practice law: to serve clients with excellence while continuously improving and lifting up the next generation of litigators.

Looking Ahead

These milestones may look different from one attorney to the next, but the themes are consistent: precision, courage, collaboration, and a deep sense of responsibility to clients. Professional excellence is built not only through individual achievement, but through the teams that support one another, the mentors who invest in growth, and the trust clients place in us when the stakes are high.

As we celebrate the end of Women’s History Month, we remain committed to our mission to uplift and support our attorneys year-round. We are grateful for the exceptional women at our firm who continue to lead by example — delivering results, strengthening our practice, and helping shape the next generation.
